Entrepreneurs from the university and research sector are the target group for the digital communication and interaction platform “beyourpilot”. Hamburg Innovation is coordinating the project, which kicks off today with three universities and one research institute on board and is expected to go live in the second half of 2018.

By backing the project, the City of Hamburg supports the major potential to be found at Hamburg’s universities and research institutes and so makes it easier for innovative business ideas to get onto the market.

“Supporting start-ups at our universities and research institutes is an important component of knowledge and technology transfer,” said Senator Frank Horch at the Hamburg government press conference on 5.9.2017. “And so I welcome the joint initiative by the universities and DESY.”

Other universities and research institutes are free to come on board the platform, which is now launching with the following knowledge-based organisations as partners:

“beyourpilot – Startup Port Hamburg” is unusual in that the universities and research institutes in Hamburg cooperate with one another and, in Hamburg Innovation, have an organisation that can support such cooperation and is available to all. The project also goes far deeper than might appear at first glance: So-called offline services will be set up in each institute. That means that the digital platform will be a common user interface, with processes and services in the background that function as a whole.
