University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg <\/span><\/h3>

The research conditions here are exemplary and are reflected, among other things, in the high technical standard of the laboratories and the excellently equipped libraries. Helmut Schmidt University is closely linked to other universities, non-university research institutions and industry in Hamburg and the metropolitan region. Among other things, it is part of the Hamburg Aviation Cluster, one of the first top clusters with a total funding volume of \u20ac80 million. It is a partner in the Biocatalysis 2021 research cluster, in which biotechnological methods for industrial production processes are being developed. HSU cooperates with Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht in the field of materials research, where both institutions are world leaders in their respective fields.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

There are also joint professorships with the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies, the IfW Kiel Institute for the World Economy, the Federal Office for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. Together with the University of Hamburg, Hamburg University of Technology, the University of Applied Sciences and HafenCity University, a \u201cRenewable Energy Hamburg\u201d research cluster has been established. Research clusters at the HSU are Education, Difference and Plural Societies, Cognitive Science, Aviation Research, iFMS – interdisciplinary research focus Maritime Security, Sustainable Energy Supply and OPAL \u2013 Organisation, Personnel, Work and Leadership. The DFG research group \u201cDemand-responsiveness and Distribution Procedures\u201d is coordinated from here.<\/p>

Helmut Schmidt University is involved in two of Hamburg’s four Clusters of Excellence: \u201cClimate, Climatic Change, and Society\u201d (climate research) and \u201cUnderstanding Written Artefacts\u201d (manuscript research).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

HSU lives and breathes applied research \u2013 not only in the technical environment, but also in the humanities. And so the cooperation between us is particularly fruitful, because the shared transfer to implementation can be approached in different disciplines with the HSU. Civilian applications are always at the core of this.
