The team from mo:re<\/a> impressed the jury with its vision of being able to produce customised medicines in the future without the need for animal testing. According to mo:re founder Lukas Gaats<\/span>, this canbe achieved by using artificial mini-organs, 400 of which can be grown on a simple plate with the aid of robots. The method should obviate the need for expensive, time-consuming<\/span> animal testing in the pharmaceutical industry<\/span>while delivering higher quality test results. The next big development step <\/span>for the mo:re team <\/span>is to build up production capacity in Hamburg. \u201cThe potential is not only enormous economically, but also socially,\u201d<\/b>said Katharina Froh in her laudation at the awards ceremony.<\/span>The startup received the first prize of \u20ac10,000<\/b> and eleven hours of counselling for its ground-breaking idea.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our team at Hamburg Innovation and everyone involved in the Startup Port<\/a> project are delighted that several of the start-ups successful in the Gr\u00fcnderGeist competition are from their ranks. It was not only the winning team of mo:re that received support and advice, but also several other start-ups in the finals: Recylabs and CarbonStack<\/a> from Universit\u00e4t Hamburg<\/a> and KONVOI<\/a> from TUHH<\/a>. Third place, worth \u20ac2,500 and eight hours of counselling, went to Recyclabs from Universit\u00e4t Hamburg. Recyclabs has developed a process for recycling PET that can be used for bottles or clothing. Now, the start-up is planning the first large-scale plant for this. CarbonStack, another finalist from Universit\u00e4t Hamburg, has developed a platform that simulates the growth of forests. The start-up KONVOI, from TUHH, protects lorries with its alarm system.<\/p>
